Bogdan Ziza

Resident of Yevpatoria, artist. Detained on May 16. 2022, the day when an unknown person poured blue and yellow paint on the Yevpatoria administration building and threw a Molotov cocktail at it. The law enforcement agencies published a video where Ziza admits guilt. His friend believes that the artist could have confessed under pressure. Later, Ziza himself told that the officers beated him in order to achieve "more sincere repentance". Ziza was charged with attempt to commit a terrorist act (part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code with application of part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code). He was taken into custody. According to unconfirmed information, a case of attempted damage or destruction of property (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code with application of part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code) was also initiated, but this article is not included in the final version of the charges. In addition, cases of vandalism (part 1 of article 214 of the Criminal Code) and public justification of terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) have been opened because of the video manifesto that Ziza planned to publish. The final version of the case includes two episodes within the article on committing a terrorist act: the throw is qualified as a terrorist act itself, and the phrase in the video that more will come - as a threat of a terrorist act. After the prosecution asked for 18 years in a strict regime colony, Ziza went on hunger strike. On June 6. 2023, he was sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime colony. On 27 June, Ziza ended his hunger strike.
