A resident of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, a janitor. In May 2023, a case was brought against him for spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces. At that time, his home was searched. During the arrest he was beaten. Then the court chose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. In December 2023, a case was opened for public justification of terrorism, and no later than March 2024 - for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. No later than February 2024, the investigation requested that the man be sent to a psychiatric hospital for examination. On 1 April 2024, the man was searched again, after which he was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital. When the case went to court, it became known that a case was also brought against him for calling for activities against the security of the Russian Federation.

At the trial, Yakunichev said that in the pre-trial detention centre he was not given medication and was threatened with "reprisals of a sexual nature".

On 5 September 2025, the court sentenced him to 12 years in a general regime colony.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
